Kneeland: 'Exciting' Year Ahead
Original Story by Marla K. Kulman, ThisWeekNews.com
Gahanna is off to an exciting 2017 and 2016 marked a great year in the city, Mayor Tom Kneeland said during the March 23 State of the City address.
Kneeland highlighted past achievements and provided a look ahead in the address given before a standing-room-only city crowd in council chambers.
He said Gahanna's development team worked tirelessly with Reliant Capital Solutions and Reliant CEO Margie Brickner last year for a business expansion that will deliver a 20,000-square-foot facility while retaining 105 jobs and creating 100 new jobs. The project will be responsible for more than $2 million in capital investment, Kneeland said.
He said it would mark the city's first new office building since 2009.
Kneeland said the Hamilton Road Central project has been more than 10 years in the making, and it's ahead of schedule with completion anticipated by the end of this summer.
He said partnerships with Gahanna organizations help make the city a true community, citing the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Foundation, Gahanna Education Foundation, Make Gahanna Yours and a new group, the Gahanna Area Arts Council, that's working to develop an all-inclusive arts environment.
He also credited the city's successes to partnerships with businesses and the schools.
Kneeland said one of his commitments to Gahanna is to implement and maintain a comprehensive economic development strategy that will boost business development, job creation and revenue growth.
