Overview
The Engineering Division is responsible for the design, construction and inspection of public infrastructure improvements including but not limited to the installation of storm sewers, roadways, fiber optic cable, and traffic signals. In addition, this division also reviews private development plans for approval and maintains record construction drawings and subdivision plats. The Engineering Staff provides technical support regarding utility locations, traffic operations, pedestrian and bicycle safety and other engineering related items.
Traffic
The Engineering Division is responsible the installation, operation and maintenance of the traffic signals in Gahanna. Utilizing the City’s Traffic Management Center and Central Database System, signals are monitored, programmed and timed from one central location.

Pavement condition
The
Engineering Division is responsible for rating the condition of all City-maintained streets. Residential and arterial streets are rated with the aid of a handheld GPS unit equipped with customized GIS software. The overall rating of a street is called the Pavement Condition Rating (PCR) and is a number from 0 to 100 (100 being a perfect rating).
