Planning a Trip out of the USA?
The first thing you will need to do is to apply for a passport, or check the date on your current passport to ensure it hasn’t expired.
The City of Gahanna Council Office is authorized by the U.S. Department of State to provide and process passport applications.
You must have a current passport to re-enter the United States if you travel by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region and Bermuda.
If you are traveling within 14 days you must call 1-877-487-2778 to schedule an appointment with a regional acceptance agency.
U.S. Passport Book:
The book can be used for travel by air, sea or land to all destinations. It is valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors. The Passport Book is valid for all forms of travel, but is required to re-gain entrance into the United States from any country by air.
Cost for first-time Applicants and those with expired, damaged or lost passports:
$110 for adults, $80 for minors under age 16.
Execution fee is $25.
U.S. Passport Card:
The card can only be used for travel by sea or land crossings from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region and Bermuda. It is valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors. The Passport Card is NOT valid for air travel.
The Passport Card is less expensive and fits conveniently into your wallet or billfold. Cost for first-time Applicants: $30 for adults, $15 for minors under age 16. Execution fee is $25.
Please pay special attention to:
- For minors age 15 & under, both parents or guardians must be present unless sole custody can be proven with documentation or notarized parental consent can be submitted.
- Appointments are not required, however, in order to process applications on the same day we ask that you arrive no later than 4:00 p.m.
- You will need to bring with you a photo ID, an original birth certificate, and a photo.
