Urban Deer Hunting Program 2010-2011
Started in 1991, the Urban Deer Hunting Program has been successful in lowering the number of car versus deer crashes, as well as reducing the amount of property and landscape damage within the City limits.
Every year the Urban Deer Hunting Program looks for experienced bow hunters to assist in continuing the success of the program. To participate in Gahanna’s Urban Deer Hunting Program for the 2010-2011 season, interested hunters are required to attend an orientation prior to the start of deer hunting season. At the orientation, members from the Gahanna Police Department, the Gahanna Parks Department, as well as a representative from ODNR, will discuss the rules and regulations of the program and which parks/areas are available for hunting. Attendance at this orientation is mandatory to participate in the program.
This year, the orientation dates and times are as follows:
If your last name starts with the letter A thru L, orientation is Tuesday, August 24th at 6:00 pm
If your last name starts with the letter M thru Z, orientation is Tuesday, August 31st at 6:00 pm
Both meetings will be held in Gahanna’s City Hall, located at 200 S. Hamilton Road. All interested hunters are required to bring a photo ID. At the meeting there will be paperwork that needs to be completed which includes the Application and the Hold Harmless Agreement found on the right hand side of this page. These forms may be downloaded and filled out prior to the orientation or they may be filled out at the orientation. The Hold Harmless Agreement will need to be notarized and there will be notaries available at the orientation to do so. No paperwork may be turned in ahead of time.
There is expected to be a large turnout for the orientations this year, so please be prompt. There will be no further admittance after 6:00 pm.
Please continue to check back to this website for any updates or changes. If you would like any additional information or have any questions, please contact the Gahanna Police Department Urban Deer Hunting Program.
