Recruitment
Interested in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding career in law enforcement with excellent pay and benefits? The Gahanna Division of Police is seeking only the best and most energetic applicants to fill its ranks.
Candidates are required to complete a written test, physical fitness based on military standards, and an in-depth background investigation. Candidates who successfully make it through each step of this process, and are ranked at the top of the Civil Service Certification List, must then pass an oral board prior to being given a conditional offer of employment. Additional screening processes must then be completed prior to appointment.
In order to be eligible to take the written exam, all applicants must obtain an Information Packet and Civil Service Application, complete all sections of both, and pay a $10.00 filing fee at the time of filing the application with the City of Gahanna Human Resources Department. All of these pieces must be completed and turned in by the specific closing date for each exam listed in the information packet. You will also find in the packet a Personal Inquiry Waiver and a Gahanna Police Division Requirements Questionnaire which need to be completed and filed with the application.Academy training for candidates who do not possess a current Ohio Police Officer Training Council Certificate is conducted at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy.
The Information Packet and Civil Service Application can be found by clicking on the "Employment" tab located on the bottom right of the home page.
