The Director's office is responsible for budgeting, personnel, purchasing, interception of citizen complaints for the department, and management of right of way and utility aggregation programs. In addition it is responsible for the maintenance of municipal buildings. The office produces new ordinances as needed to address situations that arise from City growth in addition to routine service contracts, equipment leases, etc.

The Director of Public Service is appointed by the Mayor and is directly involved in the day-to-day administration, planning, implementation, and enforcement operations for all departments under his/her supervision. By Charter, the Director of Public Service has the responsibility of maintaining all public lands and buildings. He/She is also the purchasing agent for the City.

In addition the Department also handles such responsibilities as: recycling; street light & signal installation & maintenance; dead animal pickup; water & sewer line maintenance; and, refuse pickup.

	Street Paving 25-Year Outlook The City of Gahanna Service Department has completed its annual evaluation of the pavement condition of city streets. Based on this assessment a 25-year outlook for street paving was generated.

	Manhole Inspection Project The City has contracted with Dreier & Maller Inc to inspect 300 sanitary sewer manholes in the northwest quadrant of Gahanna.

	Rain Garden Initiative and Workshops The City of Gahanna along with the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District want to help you plant a rain garden.
