Hi, neighbors!  November was a busy month at City Hall, with several joint resolutions and proclamations, updates on important initiatives, and discussions about the proposed 2025 budget. Take a look at what I'vve been working on!

Getting to Work

Highlights of Actions, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Facilitated the second meeting of the Juneteenth Planning committee and established sub-committees to begin independent preparations.  The search for funding and sponsors will begin next month.
  • Participated in the Audit Exit Conference for the FY 2023 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
  • Joined Council and the Mayor in a joint resolutions and proclamations honoring Native American Heritage Month, Veterans Day, World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, and Small Business Saturday
  • Interviewed applicants for the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council
  • Co-hosted  "Budget & Breakfast" discussion with Council President Merisa Bowers at Café Creekside, engaging residents on budget priorities

Resident communication topics:

  • Advocating for the observance of South Asian holidays across schools and city programs
  • Supporting entrepreneurs with resources for opening businesses in Gahanna
  • Assisting residents with the transition to municipal energy aggregation

Legislative Highlights:

  • Authorized an agreement for planned upgrades to Academy Park, enhancing community recreation spaces
  • Renewed a contract with Franklin County Public Health to ensure essential services for 2025
  • Amended local ordinances addressing dangerous and vicious animals to improve community safety

11/23: Celebrated the grand opening of The Bibliophile Room, a new small business owned by a Gahanna resident

11/24: Kicked off the holiday season at the Creekside Holiday Tree Lighting

Stay informed about what's happening in our community

  • Subscribe to periodic email updates from me and other city communications.
  • Attend meetings. Regular Council meetings are held  on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the Month (or the following Tuesday if Monday is a City holiday). Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Both meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.
  • Receive agendas for council and board/commission meetings via email. 
  • Watch online. All council and board/commission meetings are streamed lived via the city's Youtube page.
