MAYOR'S OFFICELast month, Mayor Laurie Jadwin proudly represented Gahanna and the greater Columbus region at the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Conference, a national gathering of planners, policymakers, and urban design leaders. She joined a panel alongside Chris Dempsey of Speck Dempsey and Erin Hafkenschiel, President of ThinkTennessee, to showcase major recent victories at the ballot box in two of America’s fastest-growing cities — Columbus and Nashville. Both cities passed significant transit-oriented funding initiatives aimed at creating more accessible, equitable, and sustainable urban environments. During the discussion, Mayor Jadwin spoke about the success of the LinkUS initiative, a transformative investment designed to enhance mobility in Central Ohio through dedicated bus lanes, bus rapid transit (BRT) corridors, improved sidewalks, and walkable neighborhoods. The Mayor was invited to speak as a local leader who could reflect the broad regional collaboration and bipartisan support that helped to bring LinkUS from vision to voter approval. Her perspective emphasized the importance of strong partnerships across municipalities and sectors in building a better-connected future for all residents. A heartfelt thank you to our partners at MORPC, COTA, and LinkUS for their work in bringing this vision to life — and to CNU and the Speck Dempsey team for the opportunity to share Gahanna’s voice in this vital national conversation.

ENGINEERINGConstruction season is underway across the City! Crews are hard at work, improving approximately ten miles of streets and more than seven miles of sidewalks as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance safety and accessibility throughout the City. Please be mindful of construction zones, follow posted detours, and allow extra travel time when navigating affected areas. Project details, schedules, and updates for the 2025 Street & Sidewalk Program are available at Gahanna.gov/Streets. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community’s transit through our neighborhoods!

825 TECH CENTER DRIVE UPDATEConstruction is moving along at 825 Tech Center Drive, the future home of the Gahanna Civic Center. Crews are currently working on site improvements including curbs and the first layer of asphalt, which will provide a good preview of how the front of the property will look. We’re also making great strides on some of the building’s green features! Work is underway on several sustainability initiatives, such as an advanced stormwater management system, EV charging stations, and solar car ports. These features will help to make 825 Tech Center Drive much more environmentally friendly than our current facilities. Fly through the new building to see a virtual rendering of what is taking shape there by clicking HERE. You can also stay informed on the project by viewing Council meetings on the City’s YouTube channel (@CityofGahanna), where updates are provided at the first Committee of the Whole meeting each month. Information on the project, including all prior presentations, budget discussions, construction updates and more, can be found at Gahanna.gov/825/.

We understand that fireworks are a holiday tradition, but they can pose serious risks to people, pets, and property. Please help us keep the community safe by leaving the fireworks to the professionals. Thank you for doing your part to make this a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you at the City’s Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 3, from 5-11 p.m., at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course!

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYIn today’s digital world, the City’s IT Department cautions that phishing emails are among the most common threats to your personal information. These messages often look like they are from trusted sources such as banks, delivery services, or even government agencies, but they contain links that lead to fake websites or that download malware. To stay safe, never click on suspicious links or open unexpected attachments. Check the sender’s email address carefully, and when in doubt, contact the organization directly using a verified phone number or website. Protecting your information starts with a healthy dose of skepticism online!
