Getting to Work

Highlights of Actions, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Sponsored a joint resolution recognizing Disability Pride Month and the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Met with Kelsey Ellingsen, Local Government Affairs Director at COTA, to discuss transit and mobility.
  • In my role as school board liaison, communicated with President Kara Coates, Superintendent Dr. Deagle, and Board Member Moehring on RITA non-filer letters and subpoenas and their potential impact on GJPS staff, one of our city’s largest employers.
  • Visited orchestra camp for incoming 7th–9th graders to support our young musicians.
  • Considered applicants for appointment to an unexpired term on the Parks & Recreation Board.
  • Voted with colleagues to reject an 80%, 12-year property tax abatement for a proposed $19 million warehouse project.
  • Met with a youth resident and Council President Bowers to discuss youth LGBTQ+ advocacy and potential local protections.
  • Conducted outreach to racially diverse communities and personal networks to ensure robust participation in the OurGahanna Strategic Plan reveal and engagement session.
  • Authorized agreements for parking access with Centerpoint Church and engineering services for pond improvements at Woodside Green and Hannah Park.
  • Launched bidding for the 2025 Sidewalk Maintenance Program.
  • Recognized and honored community members including Kate Acklin, 2025 Franklin County Fair Queen, and Jessica Hilts, Management Analyst, for achieving the “Master Municipal Clerk” designation.
  • Designated August as Share the Road and Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Gahanna.

Resident communication topics included:

  • Strong opposition to the CRA with Velocis JV, LP and KBC Advisors.
  • Ongoing concerns about poor-quality driveway apron repairs following roadwork.
  • Resident concerns about street tree maintenance and who bears the financial responsibility.

 7/23 - Enjoyed fresh produce, handmade goods, live music, and community connection at Gahanna Market.

8/2 – Enjoyed the Columbus Jazz Orchestra LIVE at Headley Park hosted by the Gahanna Area Arts Council.

8/3 – Supported "We’ve Got Good Jeans", a local response to the American Eagle controversy.

8/5 – Connected with neighbors at National Night Out.

8/13 – Attended a safety seminar for elected officials.

8/17 – Shared fellowship at the Sisterhood Supper Club: Matriots gathering.

8/20 – Joined families for Picnic in the Park to Protect Education.

8/24 – Tasted the best of local flavor at Taste of Gahanna.

8/26 – Attended the OurGahanna Sweet Treat Strategic Plan reveal event.

Stay informed about what's happening in our community

  • Subscribe to periodic email updates from me and other city communications.
  • Attend meetings. Regular Council meetings are held  on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the Month (or the following Tuesday if Monday is a City holiday). Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Both meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.
  • Receive agendas for council and board/commission meetings via email. 
  • Watch online. All council and board/commission meetings are streamed lived via the city's Youtube page.
