Get To Know Your Representatives: Vice President Jones
How long have you been a resident?
I have been proud to call the Gahanna area home since 2017, where I live with my husband and daughter.
Why did you want to serve on City Council?
Gahanna is the first place that has felt like home, since leaving my hometown. I loved the community and wanted to give back to it. I also wanted to do my part to ensure the diversity of the community was reflected in City leadership.
What experiences and skills support your service on City Council?
I bring nearly two decades of expertise in the corporate and non-profit sectors, particularly in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), learning and development, and retail leadership. As the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at OhioHealth, I have developed strong competencies in intercultural fluency, strategic planning, financial management, and relationship building.
Before being elected to City Council, I served on the Civil Service Commission and the Fair Housing Board for the City of Gahanna. My extensive experience supports and amplifies the growth, inclusivity, and vibrancy of our city.
What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
I believe City Council is responsible for ensuring a functional local government, overseeing municipal fundamentals through policy and prudent financial leadership. Additionally, Councilmembers should act as advocates, representing the interests of the collective community while also supporting individual needs.
Please name three qualities a Council member should have.
1. Patience; the ability to develop thoughtful action or forbearance
2. Balance; the ability to weigh various perspectives to identify the best solution available
3. Competence; the ability to manage numerous projects and deliver quality service
Please list any other community/municipal boards/commissions etc. you serve on.

Please describe how you would like the City of Gahanna to look in the next 5 years.
I would love for the city to comfortably grow and evolve with the times, while retaining its community warmth and familiarity.
What is your favorite feature of Gahanna?
I love my neighborhood! I appreciate its proximity to my child’s school, the friendly neighbors, and the vibrant community. The Gahanna Library and Friendship Park hold many fond memories for me and my young daughter, serving as welcoming harbors when we first joined the community.
Do you have any hidden/unique talents you would like to share?
While I cannot dance, I can sing and act, with thanks to my Bachelors of Fine Arts, Theater Performance from Webster University Conservatory of Theater Arts in St Louis.
