Gahanna, Ohio’s City Attorney, Raymond J. Mularski was elected in November 2019 to begin serving a four-year term commencing on January 2, 2020.
A longtime Gahanna resident, Ray served as Gahanna’s prosecutor for 32 years. He received both his bachelor’s degree and law degree from The Ohio State University. Ray has been married to his wife, Carol, for 32 years, and they have one son, Brandon. Ray is a lifetime member of the Kiwanis, and has volunteered at the Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival for more than 10 years. He also has volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and The Tour of the Scioto River Valley.
As the City Attorney Ray is the legal adviser, attorney and counsel for the City of Gahanna. The primary role of the City Attorney is to provide legal advice and representation to the City and all elected and appointed officials and employees of the City in their official capacities.
The City Attorney prosecutes and defends all suits for and on behalf of the City. The City Attorney shall be the prosecuting attorney for the City and serve as legal counsel for our various boards and commissions. The City Attorney may appoint such assistants as Council may authorize.
In addition to the duties imposed upon the City Attorney by the City Charter, Council may require additional duties through ordinance. The City Attorney shall also perform the duties which are imposed upon City Law Directors by the general laws of the State.
