Accessibility Resources

Gahanna Parks & Recreation is committed to enhancing accessibility throughout all facilities and programs. The department has incorporated adaptive equipment and programming to ensure community members can enjoy all activities. Regular training sessions for staff focus on inclusivity and accommodating diverse needs. Additionally, the department actively seeks feedback from residents to improve and expand accessibility features in parks and recreational offerings.

Communication Panels

Communication Panels will serve as an aid in benefiting nonspeaking and minimally speaking individuals. The boards were developed through a partnership between the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation, the Gahanna-Jefferson Education Foundation, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools, and the City of Gahanna Department of Parks & Recreation.

Sunpoint Park accessible playground

Sunpoint Park has been thoughtfully designed as an accessible playground, featuring inclusive play structures that cater to children of all abilities. The park includes wheelchair-friendly pathways, sensory play areas, and adaptive swings, ensuring that every child can engage and enjoy the space. This commitment to accessibility fosters a welcoming environment for families and promotes social interaction among all visitors.

Adaptive Programming

Gahanna Parks & Recreation continues to work to provide a variety of inclusive programs designed to engage community members of all abilities. Activities such as adaptive swim lessons and inclusive art classes ensure everyone can participate and enjoy the benefits of recreation. Sensory-friendly event opportunities and facility hours help to create a welcoming environment for all.
